Club Championship
What a busy weekend we have had at the golf club we have had, on Friday we held the BMW Golf day and on Saturday we had the Club Championships. Both days went really well with great comments from members and visitors on both days on the golf course and the service provided.
After much deliberation amongst committee members it was decided that this year people who were entering the Gross Men's Championship were now eligible to win both nett and gross competitions.
Conditions were tough on Saturday with the normal chase winds but fortunately it was dry. The morning rounds separated the men from the boys with a number of players in contention. Ian Schofield, Liam Bills and Graham Donohoe all shot a very impressive 76 with Dave Foley not far behind on 78. Due to some people dropping out of the championship after the first round the leaders went out in a fourball behind the chasing pack. After a great battle for 35 holes in came down to the last hole, Ian was leading by one shot to Dave, all Dave needed was to beat Ian by one shot on hole 36 to force a playoff. The Pressure was on! The tense crowds were watching the fourball coming down the 18th not knowing what the state of the game was. Ian and Dave hit lovely drives down the middle of the farway, Ian Laid up to the water (sensible play) and Dave pulled a wood out his bag, and the crowd oooo'd!!! Unfortunately Dave put his 2nd shot in to the water and had to settle with a bogey while Ian finished in style with a par and to win by 2 shots. Was a great battle by all players but congratulations to Ian Schofield on 2 great rounds and with a nett 70 in the first round won both championships in the first year of it being allowed? May I just add that there was only one person who objected to a player being able to win both championship and that was Ian. Well done Scooby a huge achievement!!!

The senior's championship had a very strong field this year with some very good players.

Ladies Club Championship
Rachel Bishop won her 10th Ladies club championship this year with a fantastic and course record 75. Well done Rachel that's a fantastic score.

Throughout the month of July and we will be offering £5 OFF Gapping Sessions Now £15 This is the best way to find out how far you really hit each club, with one of our PGA Professionals you will hit each club in your bag and find out the exact distance. The GC2 Technology will produce a report detailing the gaps between each club. If the results show a significant gap between your clubs you can choose to fill the gaps by adjusting your current clubs or filling in the gaps with new fitted equipment.
We welcomed a group of new juniors to the academy on Sunday 19th July to "give golf a go for free". Great fun was had by all in the event which was supported by HSBC and their Junior Golf Roots programme. Well done to all the juniors who attended. We run regular FREE Junior golf sessions here at The Chase, if you would like your child to give golf a go please contact the professional team.
Junior Golf Summer Camps
The Chase Golf Camps promise to be days of fun, excitement and achievement, with prizes to be won. A fun camp for boys and girls of all ages and abilities covering all aspects of the game. Camps run from 10am-4pm on selected dates:
Wednesday 5th August, Tuesday 11th August, Thursday 13th August, Tuesday 18th August, Tuesday 1st September, Wednesday 2nd September £25 per day.
Vets - North Staffs League
Memorial Trophy - Semi Final to be played Friday 24th July at home
Senior Captains Cup - played on Monday 20th July with a total of 67 entrants. A splendid day's golf, despite some initial disturbances, with one of our rank outsiders emerging from the pack to pip some of our regular bandits for first place. Result were:
