This week sees the 115th US Open taking place from Chambers Bay Golf Club. This course will provide a hard test for the players and will be very enjoyable for anybody watching. Many of the players have described the course as quirky. The first will be a par four one day and a par five the next, with the 18th flipping to keep the course a par 70. The course could be as long as 7,900 yards or as short as 7,200, with the par-three 15th varying between 246 and 123 yards. The ninth will either be played downhill or uphill and, if all this is not wacky enough, the n it is difficult to tell where the greens begin and end. Little white dots signify the boundaries of the greens, meaning that players will constantly be asking whether they can mark their balls.

North Staffs Vets League
The vets team travelled to Brookfields A on Thursday 11th June for a match against one of the much fancied teams. This proved to be the warmest day so far this year, and although the greens were very slow and there were 6 par 3s, it was really a nice course to play. They had a many low handicap players and were successful winners by 4 games to 2 (8 points to our 4.) This was our first defeat in Div one, but still leaves us sitting on top of the Division. We are back to play Brookfields 'B' team on Thursday 18th, and with some awareness of the course we hope that we can reverse the score.
