Thursday Night League
The summer league that is the envy of many clubs in the country is back and is starting Thursday, 23 April. TNL will run for 23 consecutive weeks and is a great way to socialise and play with different people each week whilst taking part in a friendly competition. We have spiced it up this year by changing the format a little. It will continue to be a nine hole stableford with the top three places winning vouchers each week. The league will run on a point system and points can be earned in different ways.
League points will be spread across the top 10 players and you can see the rundown here.
League point bonus for every TNL you entrer.
League point bonus for beating the pro's score.
League point bonus for winning nearest the pin.
Handicapping
You will continue to use your official club handicap throughout the entire TNL. As before you will get half your exact playing handicap (rounded up or down to the nearest whole number) There will be no TNL handicap instead of handicap reductions the top 10 players will receive a stableford points reductions for their next TNL Round. See table. The reductions only apply for your next round!
There will be two nearest the pins each week. The winner of the first nearest the pin on the course wins a free pint of their choice. The winner of the second nearest the pin wins a free TNL meal to be taken next time they play. The TNL is open to all members with a club handicap; if any juniors are playing they must play with at least one adult. Look forward to seeing you all on Thursdays.

There were also four twos winning £9.50 each.
April's Midweek Stableford was played on Monday, 20. The overall winner was G. Clarke. Division One was won by M. Withers with R. Jackson taking second place. Division Two was won by M. Hopton and P. Clifford was the runner up. There were three twos winning £8 each.
The Vets team, full of energy and anticipation for the new season after being promoted to division one, welcomed Barlaston Golf Club who boast a formidable record in Division One; runners up last year, winners the previous year. In an unusually benign and warm day the contest began with a half and a loss. It was at this point that the backbone kicked in for four straight convincing wins, resulting in a 9-3 victory. Not many of their team had played our course but there were many good comments made. Our next match is at home against Alsager on Thursday, 30 April, also a very good team. Let's hope that we can continue to impress.
In the school Easter Holidays the juniors had their first major of the year; The Penkridge Masters. Congratulations to Zach Tallent on winning with a nett 70. The next junior competition will be on Saturday, 25 April, tee time at 12.32pm.
County Rabbits Competition
The county rabbits competition is a nine hole par three competition run by the county for girls under the age of 14 who are just starting and don't have an official club handicap yet. From The Chase we had three junior girls who entered it on Sunday, 19 April at Lichfield Golf & Country Club. They were, Holly Branson (age 10), Olivia Whittle (age nine) and Lola Hancox (age six). Lola in fact was the youngest girl there and did amazing getting a five on a 130 yard par three. I would like to congratulate Holly and Olivia who played fantastic with Holly becoming the winner and Olivia runner up. All three girls did the golf club and myself proud. We look forward to seeing a lot more from these this year.
The daytime temperatures are looking good for this time of year. The overnight temperatures are dropping with some evening frost, for this reason the automatic irrigation system has not been used. As evening temperatures increase Simon will start to look to using the irrigation system. With showers/rain forecast all playing surfaces will receive a fertiliser application.
Deal of the week - Double members discount on all shirts this weekend only.
Also don't forget we are running the extremely popular shoe trade in offer. Trade your old golf shoes and receive £20 OFF a new pair.

Tom has been out and about in local schools this week giving Tri-Golf taster session to kids in the local school in the area. The sessions are aimed at giving children a go a golf and offering them a structure four week course which is held at their school. Tom has delivered golf to over 150 children so far this year with many more to come. Once the school complete their four week course the school children will come for a session at the club to experience golf first hand. The children will be then offered a place in the Chase Junior Golf Academy and hopefully go on to join the club in the near future.
If you would like to get your child into golf please speak to one of our team of professionals about our Junior Golf Academy and our Junior Golf Passport Scheme. We have plenty of spaces available for budding young golfers with classes running every: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday
