14-under: Lowest 36-hole score to par in major championship history

As you read this edition of the newsletter we are probably already underway with our Wilson Club Fitting Day and D200 Distance Challenge. The event starts at 2pm and runs through until 7pm so maybe you have time to get to the club and take part.
But when it come to Custom Fitting we still are asked..."Is custom fitting important?"
With a vast amount of grips, heads and shafts to choose from, there are hundreds of combinations available. This leaves us with the following question; "Is a set of the shelf going to be right for you?"
The answer 99% of the time will be NO. I have completed numerous of custom fitting sessions over my short time as a PGA Assistant Professional. I can count the number of people who invested in a new set of golf clubs off the shelf on one hand. "Would you buy a pair of shoes if they didn't fit?"
During a Custom Fitting Sessions you will fitted for the following
- Club Head Design
- Loft & Lie Angle
- Shaft Flex, Weight & Material
- Shaft Length
- Grip Size & Material

Penkridge Masters
This year's Penkridge Masters saw very tough conditions with gusts of up to 60 mph throughout the day. The scoring of the whole field reflected this with the competition scratch reaching 76. A very impressive round from the winner Sam Timmins who now can now enjoy his new handicap of 13.5 (2.1 Shot Reduction) well done Sam!
Congratulations also goes out to Andy Keen who won the Penkridge Masters Par 3 Challenge & Best gross on the Sunday, the only player to break 80!
For all those that are interested Sam was seen in the gym at 9am on Monday morning, in pursuit of this year's grand slam of all majors.

Interclub Matches
The second of our interclub matches took place on Thursday 9th April against Hilltop. Surely being at home this was a walk over, especially as the Captain had now conscripted a new bat man (another leftie however). Oh, woe is woe, once again we had to accept second place as right from the start cracks appeared in our game and the team went down to a 3.5 to 2.5 defeat. Are we starting to look like Manchester City with a team full of underperforming prima donnas?
Bring on Dartmouth (21st April) and Perton (28th April)
Ladies and Seniors Charity Competition
The first mixed Ladies and Seniors Charity Competition of the season for the Diamond Cup was held on 7th April. After early morning fog seriously delayed the start, the greensomes competition got under way played over the back 9 as a nine hole event.
Runners up on 18 points were the fancied pairing comprising this year's Ladies Captain, Gill Lees partnered by Noel Mack.
The winners, however, with 19 points; and always the Bookies favourites were Eileen and Fred Hackett. The delighted couple are understood, following previous years successes, to be looking for a larger Trophy cabinet although there is of course no certainty that they will be drawn together again for the remaining fixtures!!
The next of which is the Sightsavers Comp on 4th May. Entry sheets are already up on the respective Boards
Finally:

New In Stock - PING Glide Wedges
We have recently had delivery of the new PING Glide wedges that are priced at £99. Read below to learn everything about this new amazing product.
PING have looked at how they design a wedges and have done things a little bit different with the Glide. They started at the grip and worked towards the sole so every aspect works with each other for maximum performance around the greens.
Each Glide wedge is made from a chrome plated 431 stainless steel which helps repel water from the grass to give you maximum levels of grip and generate more spin around the greens.
PING believe the Gorge Groove Technology used within the Tour Wedges is the most precise way of milling grooves within the golf industry. As the grooves are milled at PING's HQ in Phoenix, Arizona they are able to monitor and control every action to give each wedge maximum spin and the ultimate levels of control.
Every possible variant is monitored by PING including the groove width, depth, spacing, radius and wall angle. This eye for quality shows on the golf course and you generate a more consistent trajectory and spin levels from a variety of lies and conditions.
The Glide Wedge from PING is available in three different sole options so you can fit your wedges to your swing and the conditions which you are playing on. These sole options include:
- Thin Sole (TS): This sole option is perfect if you have a shallower swing so the lower bounce on this specific sole while allow the club to react better with the turf for a more consistent contact.
- Standard Sole (SS): This sole option fits in with the majority of swing styles with a variety of loft options combined with the perfect bounce angle so you strike the ball perfectly every time.
- Wide Sole (WS): This sole option is perfect if you have a steeper angle of attack into the golf ball to it helps to get the club moving across the turf without issues more often.
PING's Dyla-Wedge grip is slightly longer than a traditional grip (3/4") so you get extra control and versatility by gripping down slightly on the grip. Each grip has guides to help you maintain consistency in your hand placement.
If you are looking for a new wedge or new wedge system then we can help you make the right choice for your game.
