On Monday, 2 March the seniors met to play a 9 hole Texas scramble to be followed by their AGM.
The Texas Scramble result played in a howling, bitterly cold wind was as follows:
- S Fountain., W Moore, C Ball, A Sheppard
- D Milligan, C Dodd, M Stamp, C Rich
The AGM that followed commenced at 12.00 md with 96 members signing the attendance record plus notification of 4 apologies
Minutes were taken and once approved by the committee will be available should members request them. A brief summary is shown below.
The agenda changed slightly to allow the question and answer session with Matt and Simon to take place first in the proceedings, and all members appeared content with responses they received to their questions
The formal AGM then took place with the outgoing Captain Mr S Fountain making the usual thanks to attendees, announcing those who unfortunately passed away during the year, and then providing an upbeat report about his year as Captain.
Alan Sheppard, the treasurer then presented the year's accounts, copies of which were available on the day, and which had been audited by members F Burns and W Cottiss. These were approved by the members.
The new Senior Captain Mr Fred Ainsworth was then announced and presented with his Blazer. He thanked Steve and then proceeded to announce the positions of Vice Captain, Treasurer, and Committee who had been elected for 2015 as per the Seniors constitution. Note the committee was 1 member short.
A written submission had been received by the committee relating to "no show" attendees and after discussion a proposal was presented and accepted by members providing punitive measures for the forthcoming year. The new ruling will be placed on the notice board
Finally Fred gave his closing report indicating how he saw the new year progressing, away day trips etc and not forgetting the clubs joint charity this year, the local branch of the Alzheimer's Society.
Keith Palmer, Seniors Section Secretary
