WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM: UPDATE ON HANDICAP INDEX, COURSE HANDICAP AND PLAYING HANDICAP - DECEMBER 2020 Handicap Index. A Handicap Index is a number that represents a player’s ability and can be taken and played with on any golf course around the world. It is calculated from the best eight rounds from a player’s last 20 scores. Details of a player’s Handicap Index can be found from a number of places viz: Club V1
This is the club's Internet Software Vendor and contains the player’s scoring record from 2nd November 2020, Handicap Index and CDH number. HowDidIDo This is a subset of Club V1 which includes competition booking facilities, Casual Round booking and scoring together with other listings.
Course Handicap A Course Handicap is the number of strokes a player will receive for a specific set of tees on the golf course being played. Details of Course Handicaps for each set of tees on the Course can be found on the HowDidIDo website. Players must first register with the site then input their name and a window will show “Welcome.....” and alongside, the player’s “handicap”. Click on “handicap” and a new window will show... “History... *Certificate... Courses”. Click on “Courses” and a list will appear giving the Chase tees from “WHS Front Nine Qualifying course White” through to “The Chase Purple Card” with Course Rating, Slope Rating and a Player’s current Course Handicap for each tee.
Playing Handicap A Playing Handicap represents the total number of stokes a player will receive when they play with or against other players, depending on the format of play and the handicap allowance. For example, for Individual Stroke Play the allowance is 95% (incl. Stableford), and for Four-ball the allowance is 85%, (incl. Stableford).
Course Rating The Course Rating is the measure of playing difficulty from a set of tees when played by a scratch golfer.
Slope Rating The Slope Rating is the number that indicates the relative playing difficulty of a course for bogey golfers, compared to scratch golfers. It is a difficult comparison between a bogey player and a scratch player from the same set of tees. The ratings for the scratch and bogey golfers (generated by the course rating system) are multiplied by a predetermined factor, giving a slope value between 55 and 155. The handicap index is based on a neutral slope rating of 113. Meaning that during the handicap process “slope” must be added in and subtracted from, at different points.
