Today, Tuesday 1st September, we are starting our Autumn maintenance on the greens. This work will improve drainage, allow gaseous exchange in the soil and increase the percentage of the finer fescue and bent grasses in the sward. We hope to complete the work in 2 days. 12mm wide x 25mm deep holes will be punched into the greens that will then be filled with fescue grass seed and a sand/soil topdressing. Smaller and shallower holes will then be rolled into the surface that will be filled with bent grass seed and topdressing. The surface will be cut and rolled to improve trueness. Whilst the work is being undertaken it will be necessary for us to use temporary greens. This is both for health & safety reasons and to allow the work to be completed as fast as possible. Thank you for your understanding whilst this essential work is carried out. Simon White, Course Manager
