Seniors news

Senior Autumn Trophy

With the heavy rain on Monday 9th September the decision was taken to postpone the Senior Autumn Trophy. This will now be played on Monday 30th September. The entry list is on the noticeboard.

Leading Edge

Monday 23rd September is the next Leading Edge No 10, a medal competition off the yellow tees. The tee times are on the noticeboard.

Senior Matches

The Senior team visited Branston GC on 4th September. The course was in fine condition and we were treated to a good meal after the match. The only downside was a 4 – 3 defeat, it was a good effort by the team as we have had heavy defeats over the last couple of years. On Friday 13th September the Senior team visits Stone GC.

Ladies news

Lady Captains Day

On Wednesday 28th August we eventually held our Lady Captains Day, it was called a Gruesome Greensome Pairs Chukka. This meant that you were allowed one underarm throw each hole.

The idea was to use it to get yourself out of trouble, not mentioning any names but… one of our ladies threw the ball into the bunker! We had to finish again due to heavy rain, we had 45 ladies stay for a buffet and a few games afterwards a great turnout.

The winners were Lesley Robinson & Siobhan Fountain, well done ladies!

On Wednesday we had our Away Day at Oxley Park Golf Club, another lovely day was had by all attending. We played an individual stableford. Sally Dreaves won with 33 points, Pat Gregory second with 29 points and Janet Taylor third on countback with 29 points.

Congratulations must go to Jo Taylor & Aileen Sunderland on reaching the final at Little Aston of the Charles Heeley Trophy. Both ladies enjoyed the experience and the chance to play at Little Aston Golf Club which is in the top 50 parkland courses in the country

Battle of the irons

Before we pit these two beauties against one another, have a think about how good your bad shots are? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but are they disastrous and leading to big scores or are they less penal and still go somewhere around the green?
