I was lucky enough to be invited by Nike as part of my Swoosh Staff role to attend the GTM event at Archerfield Golf Links last week to see and test all of the new equipment that is due to be launched early 2015. The new innovations from Nike across all product categories are just amazing and it looks set to be a very exciting year for Nike Golf. I’m sure you all noticed that Rory has already adopted the new Vapor driver and that is only weeks after expressing that his current Covert Tour 2.0 and RZN ball are the best combination he’s ever used. For a world no 1 player to switch so quickly you can imagine just how good this new driver is.

Before being talked through all of the new technology in the products we had a little trial teaser on Monday night at the driving range at Archerfield. I took a sneak video of how Nike Golf put on a range night. Click here to view.

Sticking with range nights our popular winter range nights are due to start up again on Thursday 16th October and will run for 8 weeks. I can’t promise you all the thrills of the Nike range night but we have a few new editions to our own including a weekly skills challenge. This year Chef will also be running a BBQ every Thursday to keep us warm and our energy levels high ready for a good practice session.

Range night costs just £5 and includes balls and some supervised practice from myself and the rest of the PGA coaching team. Range night is a great way to make sure that you are not practicing bad habits through the winter and to get some advice on any niggling faults that may have crept in over the summer. Just the one competition to bring you up to date with in the Men’s section and that is the Competition Winners Medal that was played last Sunday. Lance Round had a fantastic knock shooting a gross 73 – nett 69 to win by 5 shots on the day. Congratulations Lance you must have been inspired after going to the Ryder Cup!

No competitive matches to report this week including the cancellation of the Seniors Autumn Trophy on 6th October due to extreme weather conditions.

Please Note. The Seniors Autumn Trophy will now be played on Monday 20th October with the same scheduled groups and times as per the original sheet. Please contact Fred if you can no longer play or vice versa if you are now available
