St Patricks Day Challenge – Sunday 17th March

Thank you to everyone who took part in the St Patricks Day Challenge, the conditions were tough with high winds and the odd spell of rain.. the format was a 4 ball team event with 2 scores from the group to count on the par 4’s and 5’s & 3 scores to count on the par 3’s. please see below the results from the day…

Wilson Staff Demo Day

The Wilson Staff demo day was held on Tuesday and was a great success with everyone who tried the new products gaining both distance and improving accuracy. The stand out performer was defiantly the D7 iron, this is the newest iron from Wilson Staff and is all about distance. This was showcased on Tuesday with everyone gaining a MINIMUM of 13 yards! I was defiantly impressed with the performance of this iron.

For those of you who were unable to attend the demo day, we have a full range of custom fitting equipment in our state of the art performance centre. If you would like to try any of the new products, please contact a member of the professional team and we will be able to get you booked in for a custom fitting session. This is a FREE service we offer to all members at the club.

Leading Edge

It’s a sign that spring is on the way as Leading Edge No 1 was played on Monday 18th March. The Leading Edge is the main senior’s competition and is open to all over 55 with an active handicap. There are 12 competitions from March to October (6 Medals and 6 Stablefords). Prizes each competition and overall prizes for the best 9 scores at the end of the year. Leading Edge 1 was a stableford with 92 competitors on the course.

Division 1
1st - Keith Bayliss = 38 points
2nd - Michael M Pearson = 37 points
3rd - David Moodie = 35 points

Division 2
1st - Tam Redpath = 36 points
2nd - Alan Smith = 36 points
3rd - John McGowan = 35 points

Leading Edge 2 is on Monday 25th March and is a medal competition.

Senior Matches

This year the seniors have 20 friendly matches (10 home & 10 away) follow by a meal arranged. These are open to all senior members, fixtures are on the noticeboard. Look out for list for each match as they are posted.

Senior Captains Charity Day

This is the main charity event for the senior captain on Monday 3rd June. This year it will be a pairs competition and is open to ALL club members. The entry list is on both the senior and ladies noticeboard. Please come and join us as we are matched funded up to £1000 by Barclays Bank. There is also a list for hole sponsors and any donations for raffle prizes will be welcomed.

Senior Open

This year’s Senior Open is on Monday 2nd September and is open to all golfers over 55 with an active handicap. Again this is a pairs competition and entry is via Golf Empire or entry forms on the senior noticeboard. See Graham McLeod for more details.

Senior Captains Away Day

This is on Monday August 12th and will be at Market Drayton Golf Club. Final details will shortly be posted. With our Scottish captain we had hoped for St Andrews GC but we settled for somewhere near home. We hope to see as many as possible on the day.
