Greetings from Dave,

Re gripping

Grip MOT

The golfing season is now well under way and lots more fair weather golfers are making it to the course as the weather improves, leaving one question to be asked:

Are your clubs fit for play?

There's a high chance that your clubs have been stored in the garage over the winter months experiencing the cold conditions! This will make your grips hard and brittle with a lack of grip! Before you go and play your next round please ask a member of the professional team to check your grips to see if they are fit for use.

Golf Pride GripsIf your grips are worn, this is why to need to renew them:

A worn or slick grip on your golf club can have a major impact on your golf swing and performance. Increased grip pressure to ensure the club is secure will decrease the speed of the club head and cause a loss of distance. Worn grips may also slip in your hands, causing the club head to shift from square and result in off-centre strikes and a decrease in shot accuracy.

'A' Team Report

On Saturday we played our 5th seasonal fixture away at Leek Golf Club where we recorded another excellent 9-1 victory. After 5 matches, we've now won four and only lost one, away to Wolstanton. Although we're still awaiting the league table being published, I would expect to see The Chase sitting near the top of the Premier Division at the mid-way point in the season. Well done to all the players who have contributed their time and effort so far! The next fixture is against Malkins Bank at home on the 27th of May.

Also, The Chase celebrated another away win on Tuesday in the Scratch Knockout trophy. Playing away at Barlaston, the team celebrated a close 3-2 victory and will face Trentham Park at home next month. We have the Houghton Salver and Dofski Cup matches coming up this week, good luck to all the players involved!

Seniors section

Your Senior Captain Needs You!

There are still some tee times available for the Senior Captain's Invitation Day on Monday 5th June. The event is open to senior and lady members and guests. Entry forms can be found on the seniors or ladies noticeboard. Raffle prizes are also required so any donations welcome.

Senior's Team

It was matches for the senior section this week starting with a home match against Stafford Castle and a 6-1 win followed by excellent food and company which all made for a very good day. Next was an away trip to Patshull Park GC. A sunny day, good food and company still could not improve the result with a 7-1 defeat.

The team will be hoping for better things with a trip to Barleston GC on Thursday 18th May. It is noted that when the Senior Captain wins the team win, so can we put the defeats down to the Senior Captain.

Senior's Open

The Senior's Open is on 4th September 2017 and entry forms will be available from the LE desk or A Archibold.

Senior Captain's Away Day

Senior Captain's away trip to Lilleshall GC is on Monday 7th August 2017. The cost is £39 for a bacon bap and coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a 2 course meal afterwards. There are still places available so please sign up on the noticeboard. If you have signed up please can you pay the money for the day to either the LE Desk on a Monday or Phil Wilson or a committee member direct ASAP.
