Welcome from the Senior Section
The Seniors Winter League group matches must be completed Monday, 20 March to allow the semi-finals and final time to be arranged. There are still a number of outstanding matches.
Monday, 6 March saw the Seniors Texas scramble. After the heavy rain over the Weekend, 57 seniors took part in the event on a soggy but playable course.
In first place after count back were Wayne Moore, Roy Brown and John Wright on 27.75. In second place with also 27.75 were Dave Jones, Phil Wilson, Alan Brocklehurst and Ray Grice. In third place were Graham Brunch, Terry Cavanagh, and Alan Richardson.
Leading Edge
The Leading Edge gets underway with the first competition on Monday, 20 March 2017; LE2 is a week later on Monday, 27 March 2017. Sheets are on the noticeboard.
If you have your new diary it shows a Leading Edge on Monday, 13 March, this is a mistake there is no Senior Competition on this date.

Short Game Master Class
Do you want to lower your scores, but struggle around the greens?
Sick of duffing and misjudging your chips?
Can't hole any putts?
If so, then this short game master class is for you.
We use the phrase Greens in Regulation (GIR) to describe the number of times a golfer is on a par three in one shot, a par four in two shots and a par five in three or less shots. But let's flip that stat to "Greens Missed in Regulation" (GMR). The scratch (zero handicap) golfer misses seven to eight greens a round, the 85 shooter misses 14 to 15 greens and the 100 shooter misses all the greens on average.
That is why short shots constitute 60 to 65 percent of the game (putting alone is 40 percent). So the 85 shooter will take roughly 50 to 55 short shots a round.
The best and quickest way to lowering your scores is to improve on your short game.
Our next short game master class will be taking place on Saturday, 8 April betwen 14.30 - 16.30pm. It will cost £25 per person.
Places on our popular short game classes fill up fast so book your place early to avoid disappointment. Places will be limited to 6 golfers per class to maximise student/coach interaction.

The Masters Sweep
The Masters sweep will be up and running this weekend in the starters hut. It will be a lucky dip with 50 names on the sheet of the top 50 most fancied golfers by the bookies to win the green jacket at Augusta in April. Its only £2 per go and we will fill it three to four times between now and the tournament, so plenty of opportunity to have a go and win yourself a shop voucher. The payout for each sweep filled is £50 for first, £30.00 for second and £20.00 for third.
