    Tour news

It was great to see Graeme Storm beat Rory in a playoff last week at The South African open. Stormy has only ever won once in his 16 year career as golf pro and that was 10 years ago at the French Open where he picked up £666,000.00! This win for Graeme was absolutely amazing as he finished 111th on the order of merit last year on the European tour. This was the last spot to keep your card for the 2017 season. This isn't exactly true as he did finish in 112th sport and already had entered the tour qualifying school but because Patrick Reed didn't want to renew his European tour card for the 2017 season it meant that Graeme moved into 111th place and keep his card. He was incredibly fortunate for this to happen, because very good players like Graeme have had to go back to tour school and failed to get through and then had to rely on challenge tour events and the odd invitation to the main tour. He did say after he had won that he did feel like he had been given a new lease of life and to be fair to him to go and win in his first start of the season is remarkable.

What are HYBRIDS? and the BENEFITS of using them….?

In simple terms a hybrid is a cross between a fairway wood and an iron.

    Their purpose?

Traditional long irons 1,2,3 or 4 iron are difficult to get airborne and hit consistently, most golfers struggle with them. Hybrid clubs replace the longer irons and make life on the course a little easier. They can be used off the fairway, from the rough or off the tee.

They are great from the rough as traditional irons have more angular edges can snag in the grass twisting the club head off target! Hybrids resemble a wood with smoother edges which reduce drag through thick grass, producing more consistent shots.

What would my bag make-up look like with a hybrid?

You will replace the 3 and/or 4 iron with a hybrid club that fits in with your 5 iron distance. The rest of the bag will remain the same. It's your choice for how many hybrids you have in your bag but I would advise you to seek professional advice as everybody's needs are different. Remember we offer FREE Custom Fitting Service to all Chase members and visitors with a copy of this newsletter, so why don't you see how a hybrid club will benefit your golf game!!
