Wilson Fitting/Demo Day – Wednesday 28th May
With the upcoming Wilson Demo day I thought this week I would give some background on the company and an insight into some of the products that will be on offer to test and get fitted for.
Wilson have a huge array of clubs catering for all levels of golf and types of golfer. I’ve listed a few of the models below with recommendations of the type of golfer the clubs will suit. This is what we have found to be the case through lots of testing and our customers feedback:
- D100 – The D100 range has proven to be very successful with the senior and Lady Golfers making it a lot easier to create more club head speed and get the ball in the air. The larger head provides great forgiveness on off centre strikes.
- C100 – A fantastic looking club with its sleek dark looks. This club offers a more compact look compared to the D100 offering a higher level of control. We have found this club to be most suitable for those players looking to control their ball flight but are also looking for maximum forgiveness. Handicap range 12-22
- FG Tour V2 – This is the iron played by our very own Professionals Tom & Dave as well as many leading Tour professionals such as Paul Lawrie. This club rivals any other manufactures offerings in this better player category. The slim blade like cavity forging makes this club stunning at address but offer the forgiveness demanded by the modern player.
Wilson Irons have won more Major Tournaments than any other brand; maybe it’s time to see why?

Putting woes!!
We all have them, one day we sink everything we look at and the next we couldn’t hole it if the hole was twice the size! There is every chance that this could be caused by a miss-read or maybe a glitch in your technique, but you would be amazed at how many people are missing putts just because the putter they are using is wrong.
Take a look at the image - this is a putter that’s too long for me. This makes it impossible for me to get my eyes over the ball which means I will tend to miss Putts to the right, however it also means that the toe of the club will be too high causing the putter to aim left!! How often will these too problems compensate for each other??
Grip size – These days most people know the importance of using the correct grip size on their clubs, but how many of you pay attention to the size of your putter grip, and what size grip will suit you?
In general terms if you tend to be a handsy/wristy putter you will be much better off using a new modern thicker grip to help calm the hands down. On the other side though if you tend to be a bit of a tense putter who has a lot of upper body movement then a thinner grip will help you generate a little more feel.
Take time this week to pop in to the starters hut where we will be happy to check the length of your putter and show you the all the different grip sizes we have on offer. With putting being such a high proportion of your score its best not to leave things to chance.
Get fitted and hole more putts!
