Just over £9,000 was raised for the Alzheimer's society by last year's men's, ladies and seniors captains.

What a great week it was last week for local tour pro Paul Broadhurst winning the Seniors Open Championship at Carnoustie links in Scotland. This was Broady's second win on the senior's tour after getting his Senior European tour card last year. He was obviously a big player a few years back with six wins on the main European tour and having played in the Ryder Cup. As he got older and struggled to keep his card he then played on the midland PGA circuit which me and the other Chase pro's play on. This four to five year spell was an easy bit of weekly cash income with him winning most midland events he started it. 

Paul's major win in Scotland saw him win 250,000 euros and a two year exemption on to the US Seniors Champions tour. The champion's tour is a free cash machine to any player that is half decent. I can see Paul making a fortune out there and winning on numerous occasions. 

Lastly I wonder if he will play in the Chase Pro-am again this year......

Junior Golf Camps

Leading Edge 9 took place on Monday 25th July. 

This saw the Senior Captain flying to victory.

The Seniors were in match action this week. 

On Thursday 21st July the team took on Patshull Park GC at home a very close game ended in a 3.5 to 4.5 defeat. I believe this was the first home reversal of the season and allowed Patshull Park GC to beat us home and away. 

Tuesday 26th July saw the team travel to Calderfields GC. This resulted in another close match. With the course in fine condition and some excellent golf played the team achieved a 4 matches to 4 matches draw. The match was followed by an excellent meal with excellent company. We look forward to the return at the Chase in September. The next match is away against Greenway Hall on the 4th August. Followed by Stone GC at home on 15th August, this match is additional to the diary. Entry sheets are on the noticeboard. 

The Vets league teams next matches are on 4th August v Brookfield away and 11th August v Barleston away. 

Don't forget the Seniors Open takes place on 5th September. Entry sheets will be available from the Leading Registration, or contact Tony Archibold.
