Greetings from Dave,
Last week saw the European Tour taking place in my favourite country, Germany. I tipped Henrik Stenson to win the US Open where he withdrew in round two after shooting under par in the first round. This week I didn't back him and he gos and wins!
He won by an impressive three shots on 17 under par round a course that was playing long due to the wet and thick rough similar to Oakmont. This week sees the tour move to where the Euros is being played, maybe we might get an English win in France after all….

The Men's Invitation Day took place a few days ago and was won by Mark Hall and his partner with an incredible score of 46 points! Second place was also a score of 46 points by Geoff Clarke and his son Chad but was beaten with a better back nine. Third place was Paul Nicholls and his partner with another good score of 44 points. The course played great and the conditions were good which saw some great scoring. Well done to everyone that played.
The prestigious Simmons Trophy took place on Sunday with a huge field taking part. First tee off was from 7.30 and the last tee time around 2.00pm. Conditions were good until the end of the day when the rain joined us for the last few groups out playing. Please see results below:
1st. Ryan Hughes & David Appleton - 60! (Amazing score, well done guys)
2nd. Larry Horan & Tony Mabbley - 62
3rd. Pete Wood & Mark Hall - 63
Longest Drive - Richard Knott
Nearest the Pins - Barney Griffiths & Larry Horan
Great little story from one of our popular members John Johnston!
On Thursday 9th June I was playing at Ramsey Golf Club, on the Isle of Man and my brother was playing at Cardross Golf Club in Argyll and Bute in Scotland. On the 18th par 3 at Ramsey, I had my first hole in one in front of the clubhouse. About 15 minutes later I had a call from my brother to say that he had a hole in one at Cardross. I wonder what the odds would be for two brothers each having a hole in one on the same day.
