Well what a week it was for Dustin Johnson at Oakmont winning his first ever major. He has come so close in recent years with him always failing with a poor last round. Personally I didn't think he would win when he was four behind Shane Lowry going into the last round. I felt even though Lowry would be nervous going into the final round with the US Open trophy in his sights I thought he would still shoot a solid enough round to just nick the title.
The way the USGA handled the ball moving of Dustin's was absolutely pathetic. He called the ball had moved to Westwood his playing partner and the rules official but said he hadn't addressed the ball and didn't cause it to move which is correct and what happened. The official said that's fine and to play it from where it lies which is what Johnson did. But for them to say they weren't fully happy with what had happened they need to view the video and then make a decision when he came off the course was a joke! What other sport continues when you don't know the score?? Rory put a tweet on twitter showing his frustration at how it had been handled. It read:
"This is ridiculous…No penalty whatsoever for DJ. Let the guy play without this crap in his head. Amateur hour from USGA!"
I'm happy for Dustin as he's definitely one of the guys on tour that deserves a major. I predict he will win a few more for sure.

The junior section has seen some new faces in the last few weeks with a lot of additional juniors to the section. Last Sunday we had 2 new juniors going out on the course for the first time. For many of us it takes years and years on the golf course to achieve a hole in one, some are lucky enough to have 2 but Archie Bent has started his golf career in style with his first hole in one coming after only playing 2 holes. Archie had his first on hole 3 on Sunday. That will be one to remember for years to come.
June Junior Medal Division 1
Winner Olivia Whittle
Runner Up Jay Sedgley
On Thursday 16th June, The Chase Vets team traveled on a wet and cool day to Whiston Hall, a hilly start on a very wet course, they stated that the course rarely closes, but that does not mean it should be open. The team performed fantastically with a 10-2 victory, more like the previous seasons. Our next match is at home on Thursday 30th June against our old protagonist Brookfield A, this will maybe indicate the nature of our form.
